BMX Part From Worthless

Also check out the other parts from Worthless uploaded on to The Over Show's Youtube account. Youtube's video quality is better than googles by far now. If only youtube could host a video longer than ten minutes.

Just a really good video part

It's About Time - Jason Teet from John Thompson on Vimeo.

I cant help but post this. This dude isnt local or anything, he just does some gnar gnar shit in this video. Found this on the come up. But yea, not too much riding has been going down lately in the friend circle for the most part due to holiday stuff and inconvenient rain that we actually need desperetly. Not sure if other riders in the area have been riding, bt most likly they have been, if not happy holidays, relax and chill out for a bit. Ive been riding a little bit lately, but my knee is killing me today so im about to chill out on the bmx for a bit. Also ill be putting out a new edit soon of the winter footage.

Since im on the subject about filming and video editing, I dont know how much longer I want to be doing this for since other things in life have come up that I would like to spend more time doing. Riding is one thing but not first priority. School is the main thing that I want to get through since this economy is real bad and it doesnt look like it is going to get any better any time soon, so ill stay in school for as long as it takes to get some legitimate degrees in geography and what not.
Another thing that has started to become a big deal to me is music, and trying to write and play songs for a demo and hopfully an album if people like what they hear. Playing music is way more legit than trying to go big on a bike since the risk-reward is more forgiving with music. To score a job or some more income than what I already get would be legit as well. Couldnt find a way through blogging or editing videos, so still "looking for gold."
If you get the impression so far that this blog wont be updated as much, you interpreted wrong. Ill still update more than twice a week because there is always something going down. I feel like I owe it to the local scene to show what people are doing and if they want to get noticed. By the way, everyone who is hoping to see bikes allowed into WC park will be stoked to go to city meetings in th early part of 2009, and we got this in the bag. email me why mkbmx@astound.net
Last of all, this summer, im moving to San Francisco. This is going to create a problem of staying connected to the Concord, WC, PHill, Martinez areas. Thats why im going to need some help to keep this alive. Someone who is totally down with the scene out here needs to step up and post things that go unseen by me, or at least tell me about it and ill post it.
Ok I lied when I said last thing. Speaking of posting things, I went to Alex's house in Pleasanton the other day and he showed us his ramp, empty pool, and trails project there. He's got a legitimate set up, and unfortunatly he got hurt recently, and the surgery doesnt sound to happy. He fractured his growth plate in this knee. Get well soon bud.
What the fuck has been up with most people wanting to get hurt recently. JJ Palmere tore his ACL, so I think ill go tear mine. Thats not supposed to be a trend.
It's not christmas anymore, so I cant say that. Happy holidays everyone, and if you want to shred, go for it, and if your just down to chill, chill.

Peace!
See everyone in 2009

Add Truck Decapitator on Myspace!!!!

So in the mean time while ive been recovering from surgery, I have been learning how to play guitar and it is fun as hell. Eric, Scott and I have been practicing for almost 3 months now, and we have created this band. Truck Decapitator was the name of Scott and Pat Moore's band many years ago, but before they played a show they changed the name to Icepick. Since Truck Decapitator was never officially used, we are bringing it back and putting the name to work with the music. We are recording on January 3rd @ Sandcastle records in Concord, CA.

Tyler Photos from WC park by Zach

Eric's camera does work at night, and we also built a dirt quarter outside the skatepark just in case the 5-0 rolls up just to at the very least make your trip to WC Park worth it just in case you get booted.

But here is Tyler utilizing the dirt quarter with a fakie wallride, and a boost.

Walnut Creek Skatepark Jam video is done!

Let The Bikes In Jam 11/15/08 from The Over Show on Vimeo.

Big thanks go to 2B for editing the video during crunch time to get Worthless online at the same time. I know a bunch of people have been eagerly awaiting the dropping of this video, so here it is. The fight isnt over yet. The city of Walnut Creek still has to hear our case. So far the projected amount of signatures that we need has been reached, so thanks again to everyone who signed it. No thanks to the douche that wrote fuck you on the petition. Who ever you are, you are a bastered. Also, more videos are in the making, Tony still hasnt filmed at all, so ill just release his footage asap. Where the hell is Tony anyways? There is only about three more months until I can ride bmx again, and im coming out of the gate swinging for sure. These have been the longest three months of my life.

Zach Photos

-Jeremy Joy photographer

Last night Zach got shit done at the skatepark. Gap to corner pocket wallride, and another big gap to wallride. It looks like Josh is in one of the photos or something. The meaning being the Josh got "Hodered."

To Hoder-(verb) When a rider does a trick (ex. 180 a gap or whatever), and then another rider comes along and one ups that trick. (ex. 360's barspins or tailwhips or what ever is gnarer than a 180 on that gap or whatever) That is called Hodering someone.
Sentence- That was cool toboggan Sean Burns, but Mike Hoder 360ed that gap and Hodered you.

More Jam photos

Told you photos were coming soon.

Huge Success at Walnut Creek Park

Hold your horses! There will be more photos coming, and a video of what went down. These are just some after hour photos. I just wanted to make a post to assure everyone who didnt attend that it went well, and you missed out big time. Shame on you. And of course the winner of the rail jam was Joel Hulsey with a manual to hangover toothpick, Gutter Crew Dale came in 2nd with a 180 to backwards double peg, and John Ivers won the park killer award. Congrats to you guys.
Unfortunatly the battle to get bikes into the skatepark isnt over yet. We still need to go to the city council meeting to get the board of dictators to vote on this issue. I think we got enough signatures, but if not and you want to sign let me know because that online petition was worthless. Like I said, more photos will be posted soon along with a video. Thank you again to everyone who came out to support the cause!

Walnut Creek Skatepark Jam Saterday the 15th

This afternoon a little bird told me that the Toy Machine skateboard team is doing a demo at the park the same day, but fuck it.(not butt fuck it you fag) The jam is going down anyways, and there could be an epic battle, but only time will tell. If you want to ride the park, it is ride at your own risk. Dont come crying to us expecting us to pay your ticket because we wont. We are just as broke as you are espesially after holding this ralley. Emily is awsome, because she just built this awsome flat rail, which will be used to have a flat rail jam! Yes that's right 100$ cash prize that is coming out of our own wallets, so we expect you all to throw down(tricks) and have a good time doing it. There will be live music going down. Curve of the Earth and Whiskey for our Men will be playing. Bring $3 with you, and you will receive a huge plate of food. Email me for more info, or leave a comment.

Ride The Bay Today

I just got an email from Jamie who is riding many skateparks in the Bay Area today in an effort to protest that bikes arn't allowed in skateparks in the bay area. I can't ride yet, but please, if you want to help bikes get into parks, the least you can do is show up at his event, and other upcoming events. Show up to city council meetings. Lets do this!

Couple New Posts/Skatepark update

I made some re-edits of Jason's and My last video parts, and Eric sent through a photo of a wallride to Table on the bike trail so check those out.

Now as for the Walnut Creek Skatepark Ralley, it is still on for next weekend. Funny thing happened though. Yesterday when I was getting ready to go to Berkely Skatepark for the Ride The Bay event, I get a call from Scott, and he said that there were EIGHT cop cars outside the skatepark waiting for our jam to start. It was a releif that we werent there, but now we know what we have to expect next weekend. Hopefully this permit rolls through so that we can have minimal confrontation with the police.
If you havent heard already, there is a $100 CASH PRIZE FOR THE RAIL JAM! Yes you have a change to win some money at the rail jam outside the skatepark. Pegs or no pegs, throw down and have enough money to get by for a week, or spend it however you please. We also have other prizes too, if we see you throwing down crazy shit, being cool, or whatever. Expect a good time if you plan on coming. Hopfully Ill have a new flyer to post today or sometime soon. Check back. Happy Trails

The Better Man Won

Barrack Obama is probably the better decision for America in a time like this. He says that he sees America as a united group of people, but then again most every democrat sees America as a group. He used the golden word "change" a lot in his campaign trail to the white house. Ill just say this first, "a change we need" is a way better slogan than "country first.' "Country First" is implying some scarry shit. Americas borders are already big enough, spilling to the far reaches of the world, where we are trying to "spread democracy" which aparently is the best form of government known to man. At least that is what Manifest Destiny told us if you all remember correctly. Those last two sentences were sarcasim if you didnt already figure that out.
Now, Obama is in the white house. It is going to be interesting to see what he is going to try and do with congress, and the way things are run in Washington D.C. But remember everyone who thinks that there will be significant changes, trying to solve problems with government hasn't always worked in the past, infact, things that try and get solved by government can take a really long time, and can be completely forgotten about. Look back to the Progressive ERA. People liked to think that they were progressive, but not a whole lot changed. This time could be very similar 100 years later where we think that we are making changes, but we dont really move that far.

(note:I didn't vote for Obama)

Walnut Creek Skatepark Protest/BBQ Nov. 15th

THE JAM IS ON THE 15TH NOT THE 8TH!!!!

Lots of us have gotten tickets at Walnut Creek Skatepark. Locals or not if you come into town, you are at risk if you want to ride the park. Walnut Creek has one of the most unreasonable police forces in the state. Reason being, there is hardly any crime in the city, so they come to the skatepark to find us riding there and cite us and expect that "oh it's just a $130 ticket to pay off la de da de da" Well, $130 isn't a walk in the park for us, and that isnt all either. Scott and I have been put in handcuffs on more than one occation for riding the skatepark.
Also, if bikes arn't allowed in your town, we encourage you to do the same that we are doing here. This movement will make riding that much less stressfull if we dont have to keep checking for the 5-0 every 30 seconds. Here are some words from the man himself, Scott-

im holding a bmx jam at walnut creek skate park the second sat in november to protest the abuse of athority shown by the wcpd and to get bikes into northern california skate parks. there are no bikes allowed in the park so you are at risk, but thats the point. there will be a b.y.o.bbq and free beer so get every one you can to come show support. I will get every thing figured out for shure by next week. if u have any questions just write me back.

thanks

Halloween Jam Nov. 1st

When I was at Meet the Street yesterday, I talked to Chris from Fringe clothing(which is no longer doing bmx anymore) and he was saying that he wants to hold a benifit jam the day after Halloween at Fun Spot in Santa Cruz, CA. He said that he hasn't made any flyers yet and he might not anyways, but let as many people know as possible about this event. Another important thing that he mentioned about this event since it is a benifit jam, BRING TWO CANS OF FOOD TO DONATE. Chris is cool because he is always trying to help out the bmx community. Check out this event if you can.

Austin Places 3rd in Great Class @ Meet the Street

meet the street Rough Cut from chris san agustin on Vimeo.

Thats right. Austin took 3rd in Great. And Tony took 2nd place even though I thought that he should have won. Brandon Eckles from Marin took first place in Great. Brandon did some cool tricks though. Over ice pick to hop over fakie on the sketchiest spine in history. That was really awsome to see. This video came from SJbmx. As for the Really Great class or pro class, Kurtis Elwell took first place and $30,000, Tony Campos took 2nd place, and Chad Bautista came in 3rd. You can see the tricks that they did in the video above. I did some filming as well for the Great class, but after the first qualifying round, I got tired of filming so I stopped. I got clips of Tony and Austin, and a few others that ill post soon. I stopped filming because quite frankly filming contests are a pain in the ass. I would enjoy filming separate video parts for riders way more for the biggest reason of all-viva variety in spots and riding! Alcohol was also another factor, im not going to lie there. If you want to know more about what happened there wait for Marco from VIMBY to make an edit. Because he actually gives a shit about covering these big events.

Reptyler hurt his foot

Tyler sent me a text yesterday with a picture of his bruised foot. He said that his bike rolled over his foot or something like that. I cant upload the picture of his foot because I am too lazy to load the camera phone software on my computer. I quess word on the street is that skaters at Walnut Creek park are calling Reptyle and his friends the "copin killas." Now I just want to say that getting hurt isnt supposed to be a trend, this just falls under the shit happens catagory. Please kids dont follow my followings of hurting yourselves. It really isnt fun at all.
