Surgery November 13
Yes, I'm going in again. After that's done, I can finally heal properly. Get School out of the way, and go skiing. Last winter I wasn't able to ski because of my knee surgery, so I hope that I can make up for lost time on the slopes this winter. Come on El' Nino! Bring the THUNDER!

Hell On Wheels 5 On Sunday

You probably have heard already, that Hell On Wheels is this weekend. As of now, it is pretty cold in the city. However, the temperature on Sunday is supposed to be near 70 degrees. I'm pretty stoked considering I tried riding today, and strained my arms hopping on a flat rail today due to the cold.
Anywho, meet at Delores Park at 12 PM. After the jam is over, there will be a showing of the new Mutiny video, "Lets Get Mystical." I already know that a lot of people are going, so I hope to see you there.

No World Seiries For L.A.
Thank you Philidalphia! We don't need to see Dodger blue in the show.
Hopfully the Giants will have some better hitters, and can take the west for the first time since 2000.
Offense seems to be the problem for all San Francisco teams. What the fuck?!

Lets Turn The Hospital Into a Bureaucracy
About four weeks ago or longer I fell and sprained both of my wrists. The left one wasn't so bad, but the right one felt really bad. This happened at Redwood City skatepark. I was trying a double peg to 180 on the tall ledge behind the vert wall. I locked into the double peg, and I was about to pull up and inward for the 180. The instant before I could, my front peg slipped off the side of the ledge. Right when I realized that I was going to hit my face on the cement, I put my hands down to avoid hitting my face. To be honest, at this point I would have rather had a broken nose than two sprained wrists.
Funny thing is that, my left wrist healed on schedule that I thought it would. A week and a half to two weeks. The right wrist on the other hand, is at basically the same state as the left one was when I first hurt it four weeks later. There have been a few days where I have thought that it was past a state of recovery where it would be ok to ride again. I was wrong at least twice.
What happens when I try to ride in this condition is that I have no confidence in my hops or ability to balance on rails at all. When I try to ride, my hop is so off balance that I end up landing front heavy and my wrist must hate me for that. But this is really getting old now.
Four weeks for a sprain to heal seems like a long time for me. So I'm going to see a doctor next week to see if I broke or fractured it. People have told me that I should have done this sooner. The reason why I didn't is because I can't really afford a doctor visit right now, and I didn't think that there was anything wrong. Earlier this week I tried to go the the San Francisco State University student health center.
When I went to the health center they made me take a number and wait to see the next doctor. When it was finally my turn they said that I needed an appointment before I came in, and that I needed to make it on the same day. When you make your appointment you come in, pick a number and then maybe the doctor will see you. This seems like they are practicing nationalized health care. If you want to see how a real hospital will operate with nationalized health care, take a trip to the San Francisco State University health center and tell me if you are still in favor of that idea.
Today I called my doctor who operated on my knee and I have an appointment for an x-ray and diagnosis with no same day appointment, take a number wait, and hope to be helped. There is no clear answer to health care. But to turn the hospital in to a bureaucracy is wrong(not that they almost are), and no ones lives are going to get saved that way. "Are you suffering from blood lose? Take a number, wait in line behind Jill who has a cough. The doctor will be with you shortly." I'm in favor of keeping the system the way it is. Even though I am still paying for uninsured people to have work done on them.

Bay Air Bust?

This weekend there was a contest at the new Bay Air ramps in Oakland. I didn't even set foot or tire inside the place. One reason being was they were charging $10 to get into the place. They would charge more to ride in the contest. Needless to say this was a contest day. Normally it would cost $5 to ride there.
I'm pretty sure that I am not the only rider around who has a problem with paying to ride. Anyone can ride street for free. One can ride a skatepark for free(if you don't get a ticket). I know that these are wooden ramps and wooden ramps usually cost money to ride for their up keep. But another outdoor wooden park opened up not to far from Bay Air called Hood Games. Hood Games doesn't charge people to ride their park. So if my broke ass is in Oakland and I don't feel like riding street, I would go ride Hood Games.
Now, I'm not rooting against the place. I'm just trying to paint a picture of what I think the future has in store for Bay Air. Most of the time outdoor wooden parks don't charge people to ride. The YMCA in Pleasant Hill did for a little bit, but then they just let people ride for free. In my oppinion the only type of park that should be able to charge people to ride are indoor skateparks. One reason being is that when it rains, there is a place to ride. As for outdoor parks, they still do need to pay rent for the space they take up. But I'm not sure what the deal is for Bay Air. Hood Games is a city park I think, so that is why it is free to ride there.
Austin made a really good point about the place, and that was that the local pros didn't really take a liking to the place for many of the same reasons that I stated. But this really isn't good for Bay Air's sake because it is the local pros that know people from outside the local scene. And when other riders come into town, they sure as hell are not going to ride Bay Air or maybe not even be reffered to Bay Air. If a park isn't a positive thing in the minds of the local big names, then your buisness is going to croak.

Year Of The Rat
Year of the Rat is a vinyl album that Fucked Up released this year. I just bought it , and I have to say. I liked it way better than Year of the Pig. The second song on the album, First Born is musically incredible. This band is in my opinion the best hardcore band to ever exist for their genre of hardcore. Fucked Up is so progressive as far as music go. Especially hardcore/punk. Right now I have First Born of repeat. First Born is unlike any other song that I have heard before. It is very melodic, slower paced. But you still get that hardcore feel. In fact this song is pretty much a ballad. During my life so far, First Born might be one of my favorite songs ever.
