Stolen Bikes

This is the first time that I have ever had something stolen from me and couldn't get it back. It's a really shitty feeling, and it changes the way I live in the city. The thing about living in the city is that it is a pain to drive to most places, and when you get there the city slaps you in the face with a parking fee. So if one can avoid driving from A to B then that opption would be prefered. A bike is a very usefull tool in a place like this.
To my dismay, Scott's and My bike got stolen from 1 Embarcadero. Right next to a Bank Of America teller, with a security camera pointed right at the bike racks.
The thing that really strikes me about the entire situation is that in San Francisco, there are a lot of people walking around. My bike lock was all that remained and it was cut by what would have had to have been bolt cutters. How is a random person or persons able to casually walk the streets of San Francisco with bolt cutters either in their bag or where ever they have them, and no one keeps an eye on them. That's not to say that no one should own a pair of bolt cutters. I have a pair in my car that I use only to get to hard to reach BMX spots. But I never walk the streets with them in plain view or in my bag. It is amazing that someone can get away with a bolt cutting crime in a major population center like San Francisco.
Whoever it was, they made out really well in this crime.
Now, I'm going to have to become a patron to Muni if I can't ride a bike this week. And no fucking way am I riding my BMX bike to school. I wouldn't lock up that bike anywhere and leave it for a few hours. If you the reader thought that I was talking about my BMX getting stolen, be thankfull that it wasn't. I'm happy it wasn't, but still angry about the whole thing though.
